Grad to Work

Should I Consider a CTE Certification?

After graduating high school, going directly into the workforce can offer great opportunities to start earning money right away. Many entry-level jobs allow you to gain work experience, build skills, and make connections in your chosen field. However, if you want to open up even more possibilities, getting a Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification can be a smart move.

CTE certifications can take as little as a few weeks or up to a couple of years, depending on the field and which level of certification you choose. This can also depend on the individual program requirements. Certification programs focus on teaching you the specific skills needed for jobs in areas like healthcare, technology, construction, and more.

With a certification, you’ll be qualified for higher-paying jobs that can kick-start your career. This can be a great way to boost your education without committing to traditional college and get you on track for long-term success in your chosen field.

What is a CTED?

Career & Technical Education District (CTED) schools offer various programs to help you earn certificates like EMT/Fire, cosmetology, auto mechanics, HVAC, healthcare, digital animation, construction, aviation, and more.

These can be earned while you work on your high school diploma and are typically free!
